A man in the State of Oregon, USA, deliberately robbed a bank of US $ 1 (Rp around 15,000) so he could be jailed. The man named Donald Santacroce (65) reportedly robbed Wells Fargo Bank in Salt Lake City on Monday (6/3/2023), as reported by Oddity Central. At that time, he entered Wells Fargo Bank and handed over a letter to one of the tellers. The letter read, “Please forgive me for doing this, but this is a robbery. Please give me 1 dollar. Thank You."[1]

The teller followed the letter giving Santacroce 1 US dollar. Unexpectedly, Santacroce told the teller that he had just committed a robbery and asked him to report it to the police. After getting 1 US dollar, Santacroce walked away from the teller and sat on the sofa. There, he sat waiting to be arrested. Santacroce's relaxed demeanor only caused confusion. The bank manager took the initiative to take the employees to the back room for safety's sake and locked the door. From behind the door, Santacroce could be heard complaining why the Police were taking so long to come.[2]

After a while, the Police came and arrested Santacroce. They didn't know that that was his intention from the start, namely to be arrested by the authorities and imprisoned. No one really knows why he wanted to be incarcerated. Oddity Central reports that he seems eager to be put in a federal prison cell. Santacroce even told officers that if he was put in prison and then released, he would just be robbing other banks for more money until he ended up in federal prison.[3]

"Donald made a statement to the victims that they were lucky that (he) did not have a gun because it took the police so long to get there," read the affidavit regarding Santacroce's arrest. As of Wednesday (8/3/2023), Santacroce is no longer in the Salt Lake County Jail. Instead of being thrown into federal prison, he was released. Santacroce was apparently also arrested for reckless driving and having a suspended Missouri driver's license. He too was acquitted.[4] And if you have any legal issue in Indonesia territory, contact us then, feel free in 24 hour, we will be happy to assist you.
