He starved to death because he was allegedly locked from the outside by the apartment owner. This incident was widely discussed in Malaysia. His body was found by neighbors in July 2023. The victim, who was a 40-year-old private driver, was reportedly unable to seek help because he did not have enough money to buy telephone credits. The victim's lawyer said that, despite the fact that the tenant could not pay, the owner could not immediately lock the apartment door because it was potentially dangerous and could cause death.
